• Keep Bad Breath at Bay

    Date: 15.11.2011

A few hours after returning from a delicious lunch, you fall into conversation with a couple of co-workers and suddenly feel self-conscious about the state of your post-feast oral hygiene.

The typical workday lasts eight hours or more and usually involves one or two meals or snacks. That’s a long stretch of time without access to the tools and helpers you use at home to keep your breath fresh. If not-so-sweet breath is a common workplace concern for you, use these techniques to stay fresh and clean from your first cup of morning coffee to your afternoon snack and beyond.

    • Brush frequently. Two to three times a day is the frequency most professionals recommend. Stowing a travel-sized brush and tube of toothpaste in your desk is a great way to combat after-lunch odours.
    • Floss regularly. Believe it or not, a once-a-day flossing session can help control bad breath all day long.
    • Keep on top of your oral health. Regular dentist visits will keep plaque at bay and allow you to combat other bad breath culprits like tooth decay.
    • Stay hydrated. Drinking the recommended six to eight glasses of water each day can flush odour-causing particles out of your mouth and teeth.
    • Swap brushes regularly. Every two to three months, replace your toothbrush for maximum cleansing effectiveness.

If you feel like you’re unable to control your bad breath no matter what steps you take, it may be a sign that a more serious condition is to blame. Consider scheduling a consultation with a dentist or physician to discuss chronic bad breath.
